Thursday, 9pm, BBC2 ★★★★ Brace yourselves: this comedy about a couple facing lockdown together has bite. From the off, the unnamed man and woman (James Mcavoy and Sharon Horgan, above) are at each other’s throats, trading insults as well as barbed and bizarre insights into their relationship, and making painfully middle-class observations on the crazy, Covid-rattled world outside. Mcavoy and Horgan have marvellous timing and fantastic chemistry, working with a script from Dennis Kelly (Utopia, The Third Day) that would surely have come with paper cuts. Together joins a handful of other films shot during lockdown and about lockdown (Host, Locked Down), and it’s definitely one of the more lively, energetic and bitterly funny.
