NEW FREEVIEW CHANNEL: GB News

Today, a channel that promises a fresh and free take on the day’s news begins on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin. Here’s our guide to what it is, and where to watch…

What is it, and where can I watch? GB News focuses on opinion and debate, and the big names on its roster present feisty analysis, chat and interviews with an eye on what’s happening outside London, and those who feel underserved by mainstream news. Some have compared it to Fox News in the US, but its chairman, Andrew Neil (above left), has said it will not be ‘shouty, angry television’. Decide for yourself on Freeview (236), Freesat (216), Sky (515) and Virgin (626).

Who are the big names? Andrew Neil will present a flagship show Monday-thursday (8pm), with interviews and a ‘Wokewatch’ section. Also on the roster are Alastair Stewart (right) with a weekend news slot (12 noon), Mail Online’s Dan Wootton (below left) on Sundaythursday (9pm), Apprentice winner turned Brexit Party candidate Michelle Dewberry (centre) on weeknights (6pm), historian Neil Oliver with a show about great everyday Britons (Saturday, 7pm), and Kirsty Gallacher (right) on mornings. What else? There’s a regional reporting team to focus on stories from around the country.
