PICK OF THE DAY

ROBIN WIGGS

LIVE: SUMMER ON THE FARM

8PM, CH5 ★★★★

A week of live shows from south Yorkshire’s Cannon Hall Farm starts here, hosted by Helen Skelton (right) and Jules Hudson. There are familiar faces from The Yorkshire Vet and Our Yorkshire Farm amid an eclectic collection of reports from Cannon Hall and elsewhere, from the birth of a llama to vodka made from cow’s milk and the inaugural staging of the Yorkshire Olympics. Hold on to your hay bales, too, because that’s just tonight – a road trip to Perth follows on Tuesday, and baby Shetland ponies totter on screen on Thursday.

PETER TAYLOR: IRELAND AFTER PARTITION

9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

To mark the centenary of partition, Peter Taylor reflects on 50 years of films he’s made about it. Some give you pause on a human level – Catholic and Protestant children playing away from home – and some, such as an interview with

MI6 officer Frank Steele, are fascinating on a historical one.

GREAT BRITISH GARDENS WITH CAROL KLEIN

9PM, CH5 ★★★

For the first of a new series, Carol takes us on a tour of the gardens at Arundel Castle. The grounds of the Duke of Norfolk’s ancestral home include such fairytale delights as Oberon’s Palace, which actually dates from this century, balanced by formal areas closer to the cathedral.

INSIDE NO 9

10PM, BBC2 ★★★★

Sarah Parish guest stars in the last of the series, in which family tensions bubble over during an enforced evening in front of the Last Night Of The Proms. The story occasionally threatens to turn into an argument about Brexit, but by the end, it becomes something else, like a grotesque Abigail’s Party.
