PICK OF THE DAY

HOSPITAL

9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

The last episode takes us inside University Hospital Coventry as all of its operating theatres reopen. The wait has been taxing for patients, and the staff seem keen to help more than just the urgent cases once again – plastic surgeon David Wallace (right), whose surgical headwrap has Bat signals all over it, hasn’t carried out any routine surgery for ‘a year and a few months’. We see what a difference that ‘routine’ work will make, too, as we meet those non-urgent patients, including Anna, whose hair was sadly torn off by machinery at work.

BETWEEN THE COVERS

7.30PM, BBC2 ★★★

For the last of the series, the panellists chatting about books are comics Micky Flanagan and Reginald D. Hunter, presenter Ranvir Singh and actress Sophie Willan.

It’s like going to multiple book groups without the hassle of actually reading the books, and there’s a nice breadth of recommendations, too.

BAKE OFF: THE PROFESSIONALS 8PM, CH4 ★★★★

Six new teams arrive, and are challenged to produce 24 miniature versions of tiramisu and lemon meringue pie. They have just three and a half hours to do so, before switching their keen baker brains to a more artistic aim – to transform the humble fruit crumble into a fine-dining showpiece.

HOARDER HOMES: NO ROOM TO MOVE 9PM, CH5 ★★★

Sisters and house clearance experts the Dust Demons seem to relish their work. ‘I’d rather it just be absolutely everywhere and we get to delve through everything,’ says Yvonne as she and Angela arrive at the Barnet home of a lifelong hoarder. Yvonne certainly gets her wish here.
