THREE LIONS GOES ON FA’S OFFICIAL PLAYLIST

Euro 2020 The Big Kick-off

By MIKE KEEGAN Sports News Correspondent

England have gone for a legendary terrace anthem, scotland have opted for a patriotic classic and Wales have decided to pick a german techno act. Sportsmail has obtained each nation’s Euro 2020 playlist — the songs that will be belted out prematch at each stadium — and it makes for interesting reading. The Three lions will be serenaded by Three Lions, and for good measure the Fa have made the Baddiel, skinner and the lightning seeds Euro 96 classic two of their permitted choices. gareth southgate (left) and his players will also hear the 1990 anthem, and arguably the finest football song of them all, new Order’s World in Motion, and Fat les’s Vindaloo, the raucous England song from the 1998 World Cup. scotland have opted for Runrig’s version of the Celtic classic Loch Lomond, but have also gone for fan favourites gala’s Freed From Desire and Baccara’s Yes Sir, I Can Boogie. and, not to disappoint, The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) is also on the list. Wales’s first choice is Zombie nation’s Kernkraft 400, which is a favourite among their supporters. Gareth Bale and Co will warm up with the sounds of Welsh singer Nia Wyn’s Come Home To You, indie act Mae’n Amser’s We Think It’s Time and The Red Wall of Cymru, which is their tournament song and is performed by The Alarm. Most national FAs have gone for homegrown artists, however Canadian star Drake features on Germany’s playlist, and American rappers Post Malone and Travis Scott make the cut for Holland. Top of Belgium’s list is DJ Devil’s Devil Time, featuring coach Roberto Martinez, and Spain have opted for the Manolo Escobar classic Y Viva Espana. Because the tournament is being held across 11 nations, UEFA decided to make each venue as neutral as possible — with each team’s playlist getting equal playtime. Some associations enlisted their players when it came to selecting their top five, while others relied on their marketing departments. Three Lions was the unofficial anthem of England’s run to the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup, recharting at No 1, 22 years after its original release.
