Parents rush to scene as boy, 15, killed at 8.30am

A boy of 15 was stabbed to death on his way to school yesterday after a fight broke out 500 yards from the gates.

The teenager collapsed after being knifed repeatedly in front of screaming pupils at 8.30am in Hayes, west London.

In a shocking 24 hours of bloodshed in the capital, a 17-year-old was hunted down and stabbed to death by a machete-wielding gang in a brutal attack captured on CCTV a day earlier.

Sixteen teenagers have been killed in London this year – only one fewer than the toll for 2020.

Tia Rek-Williams, 21, said: ‘I didn’t see the initial stabbing but I did see past the point where the boy was on the ground.

‘They were saying, “come on, you’ve just got 30 seconds (until the emergency services arrive), hold on, keep fighting”, and as they were saying that, I saw his hand drop and his eyes close. It was so traumatising.’

She added: ‘It happened in broad daylight, a 15-year-old boy, there are so many (CCTV) cameras. It just shows you nothing can stop these people doing these things.

‘This happened in the middle of the street – not down a back alley – in front of people’s houses.’ A man working nearby said the victim’s parents rushed to the scene as the boy lay dying.

He added: ‘I heard a scream so I came out and the police were already here. I think someone related turned up first, then the mum and then the dad.’

Scotland yard said a suspect had been arrested and remained in police custody. on Thursday afternoon, a teenager was fatally stabbed in Streatham, south London. In the horrific attack, up to ten youths chased a 17-year-old boy before cornering him outside a postal delivery office and knifing him in the chest. A witness told the London Evening Standard: ‘I saw the gang brandishing machetes and other knives. Postal workers came out and were fighting to save his life.’

Four men and three women have been arrested.
