Sleuths target Gupta

Credit Suisse has hired private eyes to trace Sanjeev gupta’s assets as it seeks to claw back cash from the steel tycoon’s crumbling empire.

As the Swiss bank tries to placate clients exposed through loans to gupta’s gFg conglomerate, experts at Kroll are gathering intelligence on its behalf, says the Financial Times. The 50year- old’s assets include a £42m house in London, a mansion in Sydney, a private plane and a helicopter.

gFg is on the brink after greensill Capital, its biggest lender, collapsed. The uK’s Serious Fraud office launched a probe into its activities. Credit Suisse is exposed because it bought loans packaged up by greensill and sold them on.
