Britain’s got talent
TV ON DEMAND
ITV, 8pm The show ITV likes to call ‘the nation’s favourite variety talent contest’ (not that it has a great deal of competition on that score) is back – but not as we know it. As we’re all well aware, the nation is in lockdown, with all social gatherings banned, which means that the live finals can’t take place as they normally would, complete with a studio audience. ITV and Syco, Simon Cowell’s production company, tried to find a way around the problems, but the best they could come up with was to broadcast the audition rounds, which were filmed some months ago around the country, followed at a later date by the live editions once Covid-19 has been well and truly put in its place. Ant and Dec have only just finished a run of Saturdaynighttakeaway, and now they’re back, meeting, greeting and calming the nerves of those hoping to impress judges David Walliams, Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon (above) enough to makeitthroughtothenextround.
