Admittedly, it’s not the subtlest concept: why not get the star who’s been solving long-dormant crimes in Silent Witness to do it in real life? And there’s further questionable taste as the producers laden Emilia Fox’s new three-part show with moody music and creepy credits eerily reminiscent of BBC1’s drama.

But once you get over this, Fox proves to be effective working in combination with leading criminologist Professor David Wilson (right with Fox). The first episode is devoted to the disappearance of Patrick Warren, 11, and David Spencer, 13, last seen in Birmingham on Boxing Day, 1996.

A huge police investigation immediately after their disappearance, and another a decade later, came up empty. Amid new evidence, there’s a mounting sense of horror as Wilson and Fox home in on a possible prime suspect.
