Blots on our landscape

The misery caused by solar farms makes for depressing reading. Here in Northamptonshire, the Nene Valley has been widely excavated to obtain sand and gravel, resulting in lost meadowland and a legacy of great swathes of water. I am sure other regions suffer from a similar fate. It occurred to me that if we are obliged to endure solar panels, would it not be possible to float them on these useless areas of water?

Solar farms are a blight for a few but not for the many. Plus, their life expectancy is 50 years and by then our recycling techniques are likely to be far better.
