Will white star be cast as a black hero?
In light of the casting of Jodie Turner-Smith (right) in the title role of Channel 5’s Anne Boleyn, will TV executives assure us that if they do a Martin Luther King series, in the interest of fairness they will appoint a white actor for the leading role? Dennis Haslam,

French farce
As record numbers of illegal immigrants cross the Channel into Dover, can anyone explain why we are paying millions of pounds to France to stop this process happening? They should be on a payment-by-results contract. At least then we would save money. Mick Ferrie, Mawnan Smith, Cornwall
£10m shock
Richard Coles’s reminiscences of paying in a cheque for £400,000 in last week’s Me And My Money section brought to mind a day during the 1970s when, as a wages manager, I visited our company’s bank with two payingin books.
It was the day of the annual settlement between the various subsidiary companies. I presented the first book, which brought about raised eyebrows, and a consultation with her colleague – the deposit being in the region of £2.5 million.
And she nearly fell off her chair on opening the second book – a deposit of about £10.5 million!
