Black Hill, Bleak Summer (Radio 4, 8pm) examines the worst-ever outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the UK, which took place 20 years ago. Presenter Dave Howard meets some of the farmers who were affected.

In Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert (Radio 3, 1pm) composer and pianist Thomas Adès presents a selection of his own works, performed by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
