CLEANING products firm McBride is cashing in as shoppers buy cheaper items.

Ahead of its annual general meeting, the group said it has traded above expectations since the start of October.

It said shoppers are switching from buying branded goods to private label products such as dishwasher tablets made by McBride. McBride said sales volumes in the four months to the end of October were 8.2pc higher than the year before. Shares soared 17.5pc, or 9.1p, to 61p.
