Kiwi Robertson being lined up to succeed Jones
By Nik Simon RUGBY CORRESPONDENT
ENGLAND have held talks with Kiwi Scott Robertson about taking over from Eddie Jones after the 2023 World Cup.
The Mail on Sunday understands Robertson, who has been in London for the past fortnight, is one of the preferred candidates on an RFU succession shortlist compiled by Nigel Redman.
Leicester’s Steve Borthwick has been the odds-on favourite, but the RFU recently backtracked on their intention to appoint an Englishman as head coach.
The All Blacks role is Robertson’s preferred job but Ian Foster, who saw his New Zealand side bow to late pressure as England rallied to secure a 25-25 draw at Twickenham yesterday, is in contention to retain his post.
