PAVAROTTI IN HYDE PARK
9.30PM, BBC2 ★★★★
On a summer evening in 1991, the legendary Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti (right) performed live at a huge, free concert in London’s Hyde Park. Some 125,000 people braved a torrential, and very British, downpour to hear him singing in celebration of his 30 years in opera. Among the VIPS in attendance – who also got soaked – were the Prince and Princess of Wales. Watch this magnificent concert at home, in the dry, with a programme that features operatic classics including the World Cup
Italia ’90 hit, Nessun Dorma, from Puccini’s Turandot.
