PICK OF THE DAY

TESSA JONES

YORKSHIRE FIREFIGHTERS

8PM, BBC2 ★★★★

There have been many series that follow life on the front line with doctors, paramedics and police; here, the fire service is taking centre stage. This interesting four-part series follows some of the 900 firefighters – including Sarah (right) – with the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, who work to keep two million people safe. Cutting-edge technology gives us a frighteningly real look as they put their lives on the line in each shift, and part one sees a team tackling a huge blaze when 600,000 tyres catch fire in Bradford.

CAN I IMPROVE MY MEMORY?

8PM, CH4 ★★★★

The entertaining competition has reached the semi-final, and host Sandi Toksvig has a tough challenge for the four remaining celebrities. They must memorise sequential lists of US Presidents, 1960s number one hits, the Olympics and the Oscars, with extra facts and stats thrown in.

A YEAR IN THE BEACONS

8.30PM, ITV ★★★

In this latest behind-thescenes series, we explore the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Narrated by Sian Phillips, this four-parter follows life in the Park through the seasons. In this first part, it’s autumn, and the mountain rescue team are training rookies, while at the manor, there’s a clay pigeon shoot.

NO BODY RECOVERED

9PM, ITV ★★★

In January 2020, Mike O’leary’s family received a text message from him that seemed very out of character, and they reported him missing. His empty truck was found miles away from his Carmarthenshire home, and what followed, as we will learn, was an intense hunt for a murderer – with no body to ever be found.
