(1994) 15 11.05PM, CH5 Jean-claude Van Damme polices time itself – and tries to stop a villain stealing money from the past. Full of plot holes, this preposterous sci-fi action film has neither the budget nor the style to be a true winner, but it’s good fun all the same.

Based on the novella by Susan Hill, this creaky-floorboards horror gave Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe an early chance to play a grown-up – and he does rather well. Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe) is a lawyer who visits Eel Marsh House, a spooky place where a restless, vengeful spirit resides.

Director Brian De Palma’s violent finest hour is a deeply unsubtle crime thriller. Al Pacino (right) stars as a Cuban immigrant who grabs the American Dream by the scruff of the neck.

His bullet-riddled and blood-drenched fall from power as a gaudy criminal kingpin is unforgettable.
