This remake of the 1951 sci-fi film is a sincere effort that’s worth another look, with the ‘warning from the stars’ story given a prescient environmental makeover. Jennifer Connelly (above) and Keanu Reeves star.

David Fincher’s downbeat true-life drama – about a real San Francisco serial killer in the 1960s and 1970s – is told from the points of view of the police (Mark Ruffalo) and the press (Robert Downey Jr). It’s dark and disturbing – but stylish and involving, too.
