PICK OF THE DAY

AUTUMNWATCH 8PM, BBC2

★★★★

Brew a pot of tea, break open the biscuits and unroll the cosy blankets, for Autumnwatch has returned. Chris Packham (right) and Michaela Strachan are at Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk, where the duo observe changes since spring and engage in the Snettisham Spectacular, a rare chance to spot thousands of wading birds. Gillian Burke learns about the habits of moles in Northern Ireland, while Megan Mccubbin is

on the glorious Isle of Mull. There’s more daily, including a symphony composed with fungi tomorrow night. Where else would you find that?

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? 9PM, BBC1

★★★★ It’s funny what can go unsaid in families if you don’t ask.

For this new episode, the exfootballer Alex Scott talks to her mum, and learns that her great-grandfather was Jewish, and involved in the Battle of Cable Street against fascists in 1936. The story of the other side of Alex’s family takes her to Jamaica for the first time.

IMPEACHMENT – AMERICAN CRIME STORY 9.15PM, BBC2

★★★★

‘I like your sweater, Monica.’ Bill Clinton (Clive Owen) meets Monica Lewinsky (Beanie Feldstein) in the White House in this new episode, and she is giddy with excitement at what follows – a kiss. The light of hope in her eyes as the episode goes on is awful to watch, but very finely acted by Feldstein.

STATH LETS FLATS 10.15PM, CH4

★★★★

The half-brained estate agent returns for a new series of this comedy filled with ridiculous characters, all very precisely performed. Stath (Jamie Demetriou), who is sounding more and more like Ali G, has a baby on the way tonight, and is determined to prove that he can provide for his family. It doesn’t go well. RW
