Medusa, is aimed at young adults, and is an illustrated retelling of an ancient Greek myth. Jessie will be joining Mark Forrest this morning to talk about the book.

Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony is a passionate but not melancholy work, despite its nickname, Pathetique – yet sorrow clings to it. Tchaikovsky conducted its premiere on this day in 1893; nine days later, the composer was dead. In tonight’s programme, John Suchet marks the anniversary of the Symphony’s debut.

The very first broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry came out of a fifth-floor radio studio in Nashville, though listeners were encouraged to think that the whole country music jamboree came out of a barn, with the audience sitting on hay bales. This weekend, the Opry notches up its 5,000th edition, so Bob Harris features music from some of the show’s stalwarts, including Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Darius Rucker.
