Jeff Daniels (left) is a troubled but noble police chief – with Maura Tierney as the woman for whom he may corrupt that nobility – in this new, nine-part US drama. It’s set in a Pennsylvania ‘rust belt’ town, where compromise is the order of the day, and sets up its characters well in the opening episode.
