PICK OF THE DAY

THE GREEN PLANET 7PM, BBC1

★★★★★

The world’s deserts might seem barren, but the dust is packed with seeds that take

any and all opportunities to burst into life. The plant king of the most arid landscapes is the cactus (right), of which there are more than 2,000 prickly species. Our intrepid host, David Attenborough, gets snagged on one of the most ferocious kinds, known deceptively as the teddy bear cholla. More aptly named is the resurrection plant – it can play dead for years, curled up into a dusty ball, before it uproots itself and tumbles off in search of life-giving water.

THE TOURIST 9PM, BBC1

★★★★

In the finale of this superbly unpredictable mystery drama, Jamie Dornan’s Elliott reaches the end of his amnesiac trip. He’s learned a great deal about himself, most of it deeply unpleasant. Constable Helen (Danielle Macdonald), too, has been on a journey of selfdiscovery – and she definitely deserves a happy ending.

TRIGGER POINT

9PM, ITV ★★★★

After the relentless tension of last week’s opener, the tone is more sombre as the team reel from the terror attack that claimed one of their own. In a black mood, Lana finds her instincts at odds with the direction the investigation is taking – and it’s not long before she and her ‘snips’ must tackle another suspect device.

CELEBRITY HUNTED 9PM, CH4

★★★★

One team of celebrities in this returning series is described as having ‘the subterfuge ability of a sea cucumber’. That sums things up nicely in a show played more for laughs than high peril. Among the hunted are Made In Chelsea’s Ollie and Gareth Locke (aka the sea cucumbers), plus Iwan Thomas and Richard Whitehead. SA
