The Shropshire scenery in P.G. Wodehouse’s comic masterpiece

Summer Lightning is green, pleasant and benign. The Yorkshire landscape in Hannah Hauxwell’s Seasons Of My Life, documenting her years trying to survive on a lonesome farm, is often harsh and bleak. In a new series that has guests discussing their favourite books, the author and gardener Alan Titchmarsh and the author and shepherdess Amanda Owen are in complete agreement over each other’s book choice.
