PICK OF THE DAY

KATE GARRAWAY’S LIFE STORIES

9PM, ITV ★★★★ Kate Garraway (right) was the last person to be interviewed by Piers Morgan before he bowed out of Life Stories. Now, she swaps sides with her former Good Morning Britain colleague to become the one who asks the questions. The TV chef Nadiya Hussain and football legend John Barnes follow in future weeks, but her first guest is the angelic Welsh singer Charlotte Church, whose musical break came at age 11 when she sang Andrew Lloyd Webber’s setting of Pie Jesu over the telephone on This Morning in 1997. She’s packed a lot into her life ever since.

DRAGONS’ DEN 8PM, BBC1

★★★

Tonight, the Dragons question the expansion plans of an escape-room business run by two brothers, while a former tax lawyer offers a bite-sized portion of her at-home teethwhitening business. A cheesy alternative to the crisp and an invention that allows just about anyone to make music are also on offer at the right price.

THE APPRENTICE

9PM, BBC1 ★★★★

The teams’ next task is to create their own computer game and pitch their concept to a panel of games investors. Brittany hopes her eco-friendly game captures the imagination, while Akeem is clear on his strategy – until he changes his mind. One thing’s for certain: in the boardroom, it’s game over for one candidate.

MARY BEARD’S FORBIDDEN ART 9PM, BBC2

★★★★

In this fascinating two-part art series, the classicist explores a range of thoughtprovoking and sometimes controversial works of art that tackle unsettling subjects.

She will be looking to find out what, why and how art gets forbidden, who gets to decide, and how that has changed over time. MIKE MULVIHILL
