Nick Knowles [right] de-clutters heads, as well as houses. After watching his Big House Clearout on Channel 5, I felt guilty at the amount of money I’ve spent – indiscriminate buying is so wasteful. The show has made me look at my ‘collecting’ in a new light. I’ve re-purposed, recycled, and given things to grateful charity shops. I can’t explain how free I feel. I can now enjoy my de-cluttered space. And the best part? Spending less time cleaning!

A WINNER FROM MERSE

Paul Merson: A Walk Through My Life on BBC2 was a real breath of fresh air, and not just because it featured the spectacular scenery of North Yorkshire, close to where he once lived. The former footballer [above] was so insightful when reflecting on his life and career, including his struggles with gambling and alcohol; it was truly uplifting in the midst of recent doom and gloom. Thanks, Paul – I wish you and your lovely, supportive family many happy years ahead.
