The bar is set high for British true-crime drama – already this year we’ve had some superb examples with Sky’s Landscapers, ITV’S The Thief, His Wife And The Canoe and this three-part dramatisation of how serial killer Stephen Port was, finally, brought to justice. It was the dogged determination of Sarah Sak, mother of one of Port’s victims, who forced police to refocus their attention on the hunt for a predatory killer who had been under their nose the whole time. Sheridan Smith again turns in fine work as Sak, while comedian Stephen Merchant is a chilling revelation as the killer.
