SINGLE MUM IN TINSELTOWN

This US comedy sidesteps the glamour of its Hollywood location for a punchy, immersive picture of life for Sam (Pamela Adlon), a divorced mum of three girls. Sam is a 40-something working actress but she’s no A-list star. We see her struggles with work and with the men that come and go in her life, but it’s her close relationships that count – with her daughters as they come of age, and also how Sam relates to her own mother, played by Celia Imrie on delightfully brittle and prickly form.
