PICKOFTHEDAY

THE BIG BREAKFAST 10AM, CH4 ★★★★ Rise and shine for a summer of the brightest possible mornings as Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu resurrect the show that redefined breakfast telly back in the 1990s. Mo and AJ are a fantastic team and when they brought The Big Breakfast back for a oneoff special last September, it was clear this was meant to be. They’ll be with us every Saturday morning for the next four weeks.

BOB MARLEY REIMAGINED 9PM, BBC2

★★★★

Sit back and chill out for a night devoted to the laid-back vibe and vibrant legacy of Bob Marley. This concert, recorded in Birmingham last month, features the Chineke! Orchestra performing orchestral arrangements of Marley’s best-known songs, from One Love to Get Up Stand Up, with the reggae musician’s grandson Skip Marley joining J.P. Cooper and Ruby Turner on vocals. At 10pm, there’s another chance to see the superb documentary When Bob Marley Came To Britain and, at 11pm, there’s a joyful compilation of

Reggae At The BBC.

GRIFF’S CANADIAN ADVENTURE 9PM, CH4

★★★ Comedian turned travellover Griff Rhys Jones (right), the man with the gruffest voice on television, introduces his latest series as he bobs up and down in a survival suit in the middle of the north Atlantic – and it looks very, very cold.

He will be travelling 4,000 miles across the vastness of Canada, to the Pacific and Vancouver Island, but starts in Newfoundland, where European settlers first made landfall in North America. After watching the sun rise on Cape Spear for his first taste of ‘Canadian awesomeness’, Griff spends most of his time finding out what it means to be ‘great in the kitchen’ – which might involve fried cod tongue and the shaking of an ‘ugly stick’.

THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS 9.15PM, BBC1

★★★★

The first series was an Aussie twist on a British true-crime kidnapping case, and this second series, set two years later, follows the fallout of baby Ben’s abduction as Ben’s mother Meghan and husband Jack put their lives back together, while troubled Agatha Fyfle (Downton’s Laura Carmichael) languishes in prison awaiting sentencing. The first series covered the events of the real-life crime, so from here on in anything can happen – and there are big surprises in store. Both series are on BBC iplayer.
