Will Neil Scott’s vintage racing spikes turn to dust when master cobbler Dean attempts to repair them? ‘The leather’s so dry I’m almost scared to work with it.’ That’s just the kind of challenge that makes this show so great, especially when you see the joy the finished shoes bring to 90-year-old Neil (right, with granddaughter Saadia), who was running to victory in them in the 1940s. We also follow the restorations of a bulldog waiter who’s a tactile treat for his blind owner, a muchloved oil painting and a barrel organ owned by a whole town.
