Paul Abbott, the creator of Clocking Off and Shameless, is behind this blackly comic police procedural that features plots and action so outrageous that you can’t really take it as a straight drama without losing your mind. As the title suggests, it’s not interested in pulling any punches – or punchlines. With its raw, bawdy humour, it’s a far cry from Midsomer Murders. The cast is led by Joanna Scanlan’s fierce and uncompromising boss Viv Deering – she’s unlike any police chief you’ve seen on TV before.
