MICHAEL MCINTYRE’S BIG SHOW 8PM, BBC1

★★★

Jonathan Ross bravely hands over his phone for Send To All – just imagine who he has in his contact list! Married comedy duo Chris and Rosie Ramsey play the Midnight Gameshow, and Nile Rodgers and Chic surprise some karaoke fans in the audience before giving a spectacular performance.

SECRETS OF THE ROYAL PALACES 8PM, CH5

★★★

Greenwich Palace on the south bank of the Thames was the birthplace of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I; it now sits in ruins. Here, we’re granted access to the parts of the once splendid red-brick building that still stand, including Henry’s wine cellar. We also get the inside story on more recent royal events, such as the time the then Prince Charles and Camilla found themselves in the middle of an angry mob, and we meet the journalist who took the picture that confirmed Harry and Meghan were an item – oh, for those happier days!

STOCK AITKEN WATERMAN: LEGENDS OF POP 9PM, CH5 ★★★

The second part of this documentary takes us back to 1987, when Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up (written and produced by SAW) became the biggest-selling single of the year – who can forget the music video with Rick dancing in a trench coat? Here, hitmakers Mike, Matt and Pete reminisce on their highs and lows, which include legal disputes and their eventual disbanding. Stay tuned for Stock Aitken

Waterman: Greatest Hits at 10.25pm, which features classic tracks from Bananarama, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

FIGHT THE POWER: HOW HIP-HOP CHANGED THE WORLD 9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

This eye-opening fourpart social history series began with the origin story of hip-hop in 1970s New York. In the first of tonight’s concluding double bill, we’re in Los Angeles, where rappers are using their lyrics to speak truth to power, but clash with the police. Public Enemy’s Chuck D is joined by the likes of Ice-t and Eminem (left) to explore how hip-hop, with its inner-city roots, become a global and hugely profitable phenomenon. Now you know the hip-hop back story, it’s time to listen to the artists – Jay-z, Fugees and Grandmaster Flash perform on a US hip-hop edition of Later... With Jools Holland at 11pm.
