So far, all the women in this drama are saintly, while the male characters provide all the tension and suspicion. And that’s not just overprotective dad Ed (Jason Watkins), but Ryan, the new boyfriend of his daughter Abbie (Poppy Gilbert, right) – and also her ex, George.

After Ed’s revelations backfired last week, he is scrambling to work out who’s got it in for him – and he’s got a lot more on his plate than worrying about whether Ryan is a wrong ’un. A man like Ed, under this amount of pressure, is surely only one misstep away from total disaster. Whatever it is that Ed is afraid of in his past, you’ve got to wonder if he’s right about Ryan –thisisaguy who appears to be very fond of lying.
