Layers of history lie within the stone walls of an Iron Age settlement called the Broch of Gurness on Orkney’s main island. People lived in the dwellings from 500BC until the 8th century, adapting the various buildings to suit their changing needs. Clare Balding takes a coastal walk with dog expert Steve Jenkinson that passes this ancient site. They talk about the landscape and history of Orkney, then Steve shares some advice on walking dogs in the countryside.
