THE HURT LOCKER (2008) 15 ◆ 10.45PM, BBC2 ★★★★ Kathryn Bigelow’s Oscar-winning revisionist drama is a thoughtprovoking look at the nature of modern warfare. Jeremy Renner stars as the bomb disposal officer who seeks to find self-affirmation in his heroic antics in the field, but struggles on the home front. HELL OR HIGH WATER (2016) 15 ◆ 12.45AM, CH4 ★★★★ This contemporary western is cut from quality hide. It’s set in Texas, with outlaws in getaway trucks instead of riding horses. Chris Pine and Ben Foster are the robber brothers on the run, with Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham (left) as the lawmen on their trail.
