Movie choice
UNBREAKABLE (2000) 12 9PM, GREAT! MOVIES
★★★★
M. Night Shyamalan (of Sixth Sense fame) puts his unique twist on the superhero movie. Bruce Willis stars – he’s the Unbreakable one. Samuel L. Jackson plays his only-too-fragile opposite number. Part of a trilogy that was belatedly concluded with Split (2016) and Glass (2019).
RAMBO 10.15PM, ITV4
(2008) 18 s ★★★ Proof that you can’t keep a good man down – especially if he’s played by Sylvester Stallone. Sly revives one of his most famous characters – mercenary John Rambo – a fourth time for a typically bullet-riddled showdown.
THE DEATH OF DICK LONG (2019) 18
s 11.15PM, FILM4 ★★★ Black comedy drama from the Daniels, the writer-director team behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, which swept the board at this year’s Oscars. This is similarly out-there stuff, but on a much more modest budget.
TO DIE FOR 11.55PM, TALKING PICTURES TV
(1995) 15 ◆
★★★★ Nicole Kidman got major kudos for her performance in Gus Van Sant’s satirical comedy. She stars as a dim but ruthless weathergirl (right) who sets her sights on becoming a TV anchorwoman – and woe betide anyone who stands in her way.
