My Olympian teacher
LIKE Lord coe, i owe a lot to John Sherwood (Mail).
he was my games teacher and gave up his lunch breaks to coach the football team.
on the day of the 400m hurdles final at the olympic Games in Mexico city in 1968, the headmaster let the whole school watch the tV in the main hall and cheer on our brilliant teacher.
Mr Sherwood brought his bronze medal to school to show us all. What an achievement and an inspiration to us all.
ALAN BRIGHT, Doncaster, S. Yorks.
