Boy, 12, dies after being injured at ski centre

A BOY of 12 died yesterday after suffering a serious injury at an indoor ski centre.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Police were called to reports of the child being hurt while taking part in an activity in the SnowDome in Tamworth at around 6.35pm. He died a short time later, the emergency services confirmed.

Police said the boy’s family was being supported by officers and a man had been treated for injuries.

An ambulance spokesman said: ‘On arrival crews found a boy who had suffered very serious injuries. Staff worked on him providing advanced life support but sadly, despite all of the efforts, it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.’

Police asked people not to speculate about what happened or share images or footage. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident.
