Record £1m for Jordan trainers
A PAIR of trainers worn by basketball superstar Michael Jordan in his debut season as a pro have sold for a record £1.1million at auction. The Nikes featured in Jordan’s fifth game for the Chicago Bulls in 1984, the year the sportswear firm launched its signature Air Jordans brand.
The size 13 white leather high-tops were later given to a ballboy as a gift. They sold for $1.47million at Sotheby’s in Las Vegas, eclipsing the previous Air Jordans record of $615,000 in August last year. It comes as the market for rare sports shoes soars.
