Scotland’s passport fury

SCOTLAND’S new vaccine passport scheme has sparked an avalanche of abuse against hospitality staff.

A survey of 283 operators found that eight out of ten said staff had faced fury from customers who had been turned away.

The poll also revealed that 91 per cent said staff felt under pressure because of the policy. Stephen Montgomery, spokesman for the Scottish Hospitality Group, who carried out the research, said: ‘This is a policy most people cannot deal with at the moment.’

He also highlighted the ‘nonsensical’ policy which means that a venue would have to enforce the rule in a room where a wedding anniversary is held, but not in another room with a wedding reception, as they are exempt.
