TIME TO GO OLE, THAT DEFEAT WAS GUTLESS

I THINK Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should step down and admit he’s taken this team as far as he can. Like Kevin Keegan after England, you don’t come back from saying you can’t do a job but I would respect him for it. I would say to him: ‘You’ve got rid of the deadwood, you’ve made us happy and let us enjoy United again but there is now open dissent and you’ve lost in the most gutless fashion.’ Thomas Tuchel has transformed Chelsea and proven you can do it in a short period but we’re three years into this. There is no chance this gets turned around. There is no redemption. This is what United are. In theory, we could still win a couple of games but we’re out of the title race on October 24 which is as bad as when David Moyes was in charge. We called out Moyes for flip charts but you’ve got Brendan Rodgers thinking, ‘Tactically I’m better than you’, Klopp going, ‘I’ve got this’, and every team saying, ‘We’ve got you’. I don’t think it’s a question of losing the players, I don’t think they know what Ole wants. The defeat by Liverpool wasn’t reversing, it was a shambles. It was disgusting that those players could turn up and put that in. We’re just inept. To concede 11 goals in a week… you can be really bad and lose a game 2-0 but to be 4-0 down at half-time is awful. Losing 6-1 against Manchester City was as bad. During that game we got stupid but we were still in it. We were so badly embarrassed against Liverpool and it’s not a one-off, this is endemic now. You can’t put up with that and accept it. You must have standards. You need to have a team wanting to fight — it’s Liverpool! I feel angry and upset. I feel disgusted by United and it’s been so long since I’ve felt disgusted by a United team. I’m sure they will apologise and all that nonsense but do it on the pitch. I’ve never seen so many people leave. I’ve never left that early. I didn’t want to do it but it’s not going to get any better. When this is over there will be no happiness from me. I will just feel very, very sad.
