Idiots behind the wheel

TheRe is a specific offence in law to cover actions at the wheel that mean you are not in a position to have proper control of a motor vehicle.

This covers eating, drinking, combing your hair, shaving and putting on make-up — all of which I’ve seen on our roads.

In serious cases, the offence of driving without due care and attention can be considered. This is the legislation that should have been be used for idiots filming accidents on motorways, not the offence of using a mobile phone.

KEITH JAGGARD, Rugby, Warks. QUITe rightly using a mobile phone is banned when driving. So now computer screens are fitted to dashboards to distract drivers instead.
