Dangerous delays

i’M NOt surprised that ambulances are being held up in emergencies by planters placed in the roadway as traffic-calming measures (Mail). Where i live, when a bus stops to let passengers on or off, other vehicles can’t get past owing to bollards in the middle of the road.

So a queue of traffic ends up behind the bus on the routes to two major hospitals.

Do road planners consider the needs of emergency vehicles? Are they even drivers?
