Mother of kidnap thug says he’s ‘not a bad boy’

By Andy Dolan

THE mother of a thug who kidnapped his girlfriend moments before she suffered catastrophic brain injuries after falling from his van has insisted her son was ‘not a bad boy’.

Kathy Norris defended Chay Bowskill yesterday as pictures emerged showing him posing with a zombie knife and making offensive gestures.

Bowskill, 20, was jailed for seven and a half years on Wednesday after a trial heard he bundled 19-year-old Angel Lynn, pictured, into a van which she fell out of as it travelled close to 60mph. the Attorney General has confirmed she is considering a complaint that his sentence was unduly lenient.

Miss Norris, a 58-yearold carer from Syston, Leicestershire, said she was ‘devastated’ by Miss Lynn’s life-changing injuries and that her ‘heart goes out to her family’.

But she added: ‘My son’s not a bad boy, but he’s not a saint.’

the trial at Leicester Crown Court heard Bowskill had been in prison just months before kidnapping Miss Lynn, with the help of friend Rocco Sansome, in September 2020. Sansome, 20, was jailed for 21 months.

Miss Lynn remains in a ‘catatonic’ state in hospital, according to her family, unable to communicate or feed herself.

When Bowskill left prison with a 6pm to 6am curfew, he forced his girlfriend of a year to keep the same hours.

Miss Lynn’s mother, Nikki, 47, told jurors the teenager had to be home at 6pm every day to receive a landline call from her violent and controlling lover. Her father, Paddy, 53, added: ‘My daughter might as well have been on a tag as well. If he had to be in at six, she had to be in at six too.’

In a series of social media posts, Bowskill is pictured at the age of 14 grinning as he brandishes a zombie knife in a back garden.

Other posts show him making menacing gestures and brandishing a baseball bat.
