Democratic crisis

WHEN the Prime Minister confirms he will take full responsibility for the No 10 shenanigans, it’s reasonable to ask what this means in practice.

Some form of official censure, forfeit, sanction or exclusion? The choice is surely down to the public.

Doubtless he won’t resign and, like Charles Dickens’s Uriah Heep, he’ll go on being ever so humble, but not mend his ways.

If the country has lost faith in its leader, then no matter what party we support, we are facing a democratic crisis.

DOUG JENNINGS, Mickleton, Glos. I WAS hoping Boris would resign over the Sue Gray report. But then I got to thinking who would replace him: Dominic Raab, Michael Gove, Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak?

What a shower! Let’s keep the buffoon.

JOHN HOLROYD, Hucknall, Notts.
