THIAGO RULED OUT FOR SIX WEEKS

DOMINIC KING

JURGEN KLOPP insists Liverpool would have signed another midfielder by now to ease their injury crisis — had the right option been available. Klopp is dealing with a shortage of options in midfield, with Thiago Alcantara (right) ruled out for six weeks. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones are sidelined too. Naby Keita has recovered from illness to face Crystal Palace on Monday but the situation is far from ideal. Liverpool’s manager said in July he had no intention of buying anyone else in this window. The club have been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Matheus Nunes but he is not a target, with West Ham and Wolves leading the chase for him. Jude Bellingham has admirers at Anfield, but Borussia Dortmund have no intention of selling him in this window. Liverpool looked at France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this summer but he moved to Real Madrid from Monaco.
