HAMMERS BAULKING ON MEMPHIS

WEST HAM’S hierarchy are split after being offered a cutprice deal to sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona this week. Co-owner David Sullivan is understood to be willing to press ahead with a deal he regards as good value for money, but manager David Moyes has made it clear that he wants to club to pursue alternative targets.

The former Manchester United striker is being touted around Europe due to Barcelona’s desperation to offload players to reduce their wage bill and enable them to register new signings in time for their season opener against Rayo Vallecano tonight. Barca had hoped to secure a fee for Depay but with no club matching their valuation of a player who earns over £200,000 per week, they have indicated they are willing to release him. Juventus are set to take advantage if they can agree personal terms.
