Nurse sues NHS for ‘imposing racist ideology’

‘Whiteness problem’ lecture upset her

A WHITE Christian nurse is suing an Nhs Trust she claims has been forcing a ‘racist ideology’ on to its students.

Amy Gallagher, 33, is taking legal action against the Portman Clinic in north London, part of the controversial Tavistock and Portman Nhs Trust, in a legal case she believes is the first of its kind.

The mental health nurse, who is in the final stages of a two-year course in forensic psychology at the trust, claims she has been discriminated against on the basis of race, religion and philosophical belief.

she was upset after allegedly being forced to take part in a lecture titled ‘whiteness – a problem of our time’ in October 2020, which said ‘the problem of racism is a problem of whiteness’.

At a meeting with her course leader, Miss Gallagher explained that she did not consider herself racist and that she took a ‘colour-blind’ approach, meaning she does not judge people by skin colour. she says she was told this is now ‘outdated’.

Miss Gallagher also attended a compulsory lecture on racism in which the lecturer ‘spoke negatively about Christianity while no other religions were mentioned’. she filed a

‘Colour-blind view is outdated’

formal complaint to the Tavistock Trust in January last year. And in March this year she filed documents at the Central London County Court.

According to The daily Telegraph, Miss Gallagher thinks it will be the first legal case that hinges on ‘lack of belief’.

she argues a white Christian woman cannot believe in critical race theory, which states racism is systemic and institutional.

The Tavistock and Portman Trust said it could not comment on claims that were part of an ‘ongoing legal case’.
