SOW YOUR PARSLEY

IF YOU are itching to get started in the garden, you can sow a first batch of parsley outside if the weather isn’t too wet or cold. The curly variety makes a great edging to herb or vegetable beds. I love to pick it and chew as a breath freshener. Choose a spot in sun or partial shade with well-drained but moist soil. Make a drill about 1 cm deep, sow the seeds, cover with soil, then water. Parsley can take up to six weeks to germinate. It can also be grown in pots — just make sure the compost doesn’t dry out.
