TIME TO GET HOEING ANNUAL WEEDS

AS THE temperature gets a little warmer, the weeds are starting to reappear. Annual weeds such as hairy bittercress and chickweed have shallow roots and are easy to remove. If you catch them now while they are young, you can save yourself a harder job later in the season. Use a hoe to gently dislodge the roots, then throw them on the compost heap. Other weeds such as green alkanet and ground elder can be more persistent, and you may need to dig out their deep taproots.
