No interest in savers
IT’S the same old story. The Bank of England hikes interest rates, this time to 4.25 per cent, and high street banks boost their loan rates by at least as much, causing pain to countless mortgage holders.
But for the poor savers, whose money has traditionally formed the bedrock of the banking system, there is little good news.
Greedy banks, interested only in their profits, simply refuse to pass on the full benefit. What a slap in the face for people who just 15 years ago helped drag them back from the brink of bankruptcy.
